When good lashes matter, who else would you go to for the hottest lash trends & tips? Elleebana of course!
We teamed up with the amazing team who just keeps on delivering not only the most amazing lash & brow products on the market, yet equally amazing industry knowledge!
Barneys: As a leader in lash products & training, what are you seeing as the hottest and most requested lash trend right now?
Elleebana: Volume Lashes hands-down! With the cooler months setting in, the focus moves more on to the face, and of course the eyes. This, and the hot demand for a dramatic and full effect, beauty lovers just can’t get enough volume!
Our tip for max volume: With multiple lash extensions being utilised to place on one natural lash, you need to ensure that you are using a smaller diameter lash to create your fans.
Preferred lash diameters used for Volume are:
📉 0.05mm, 0.06mm, 0.07mm, 0.10mm in a maximum of 3D
📉 0.12mm in a maximum of 2D
WARNING 🚫 When creating 4D Volume lashes, any diameter over 0.15mm is not recommended due to the weight not being suitable.
Check out this 3D Volume BOMBSHELL in the image. Volume lashes are indeed an art. There is a fair bit of crafting and skill that goes into an effective and voluminous result. We do have upcoming lash volume courses for those looking to master the technique. In fact we have one coming up at Barneys in August so check it out!

TOOL TALK FOCUS:
Are you tweezer fit?
Let’s talk tweezer posture – yep, it’s a thing! And a topic we touched upon with our friends at Elleebana.
Barneys: Now, we all know that a lash extension service takes a little longer to perfect. While your client enjoys a #lashnap you begin creating magic, going hammer and tong with your tweezers 🥢 Do you protect your finger posture when you are using your tweezers?
Elleebana: Using the correct tweezer grip can aid in not only perfecting your application of the treatment but also reduce the strain on the muscles in your hand. We all fall into a habit of holding tweezers with the thumb and pointer finger, however, this can cause tremendous amounts of strain on the abductor and flexor muscles that assist movement in your thumb and in turn the large muscle that runs along the forearm.
❌ If your thumb and fingers are half-way up the tweezers, your thumb will be working over-time doing most of the grip work. This will result in a repetitive strain on the thumb muscle that can cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This particular tweezer posture can result in lack of precision grip and unable to carefully collect your fan and ‘tweezer slide’.
✔️ If your thumb and fingers are positioned down low on the tweezers, you will have a much better precision grip and control of your tool. The thumb and ring finer are now balancing the workload during the treatment as they both are used to squeeze the tweezer together and engage more tendons. This tweezer posture prevents twisting of the tweezers.
⚡FIT FINGERS EXERCISES⚡️
1. Repetitively create a closed fist, by cupping your fingers over your thumb.
2. On one hand, using the tip of your thumb, touch the tip of each fingertip.
These very simple exercises can assist in strengthening your dexterity muscles. Give it a try in between your clients or just before you’re about to slay those lashes! ⚡️⚡️
LASH EXTENSION AFTERCARE
Barneys: Now aftercare is a huge consideration when it comes to keeping lash trends in fine form!
We know how important it is not only for our clients to get maximum wear, yet also for our amazing treatments to stay true!
Elleebana: 100% correct! We are strong advocates for Lash Extension Aftercare and we all know that one Client that just doesn’t clean those pretty lashes!
AFTERCARE 101
Our eyelashes job is to keep dirt, dust, oils, and make-up from entering the eyes, so this means they get dirty every. single. day. Adding lash extensions and adhesive to each individual eyelash means there is even more surface area for dirt to gather, build up and breakdown the adhesive bond.
Daily cleansing is an aftercare requirement, and this can be effectively executed with a lash cleanser and brush you used to cleanse their lashes during the appointment. This means they are able to remove their make-up at the end of the day, but also cleanse well in-between the lashes and breakdown any build up that is occurring throughout the lash line.
Tips for your client: How to cleanse with ease:
1️⃣Wet the lashes with cold water.
2️⃣Apply a small amount of make-up remover to one closed eye and massage through the lash line using a small gentle brush.
3️⃣Rinse with cold water.
4️⃣Pat dry before moving onto the second eye.
⚠️Ensure to NOT use lint based make-up remover pads to dry the lashes as this can catch and pull on the lashes. Ouch!
