Today, we are celebrating International Women’s Day with Lilliane Caron from Caronlab, a luminary in the world of waxing therapy.
Get to know Lilliane and her story
Lilliane embarked on her journey with Caronlab in 1979, establishing her own salon in Geelong, Victoria. Motivated by the challenges faced by beauty therapists, Lilliane set out to create a solution that would empower both therapists and their clients to feel confident and comfortable.
Through her innovative approach, Lilliane revolutionised the waxing industry, placing Australian manufacturing on the global stage and showcasing women’s successes. We had the privilege of sitting down with Lilliane for a Q&A session to shed more light on International Women’s Day and her what it means to her.
What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It’s a day to celebrate the contributions of women to our world. For our industry, it’s a day to celebrate the women who make our industry what it is, those who have forged ahead, created and led the way and the women who today are taking the beauty industry to the next level with innovation and creation.
What or whom has been your inspiration for achieving the career you dreamed of?
I have always been inspired to create a better industry, to teach others and share my knowledge. To create the best products possible that provide therapists with the confidence to achieve great results time and time again.
What challenges do you feel women in our industry face and how could we look to push through such challenges?
Ours is an ever-changing industry and it is imperative to stay ahead of the game. To surround yourself with those who you can learn and be inspired from, to take the time to explore and learn, and to gather new ideas.
What is the best advice you received throughout your career that you can share with our readers?
My father told me to “surround yourself with young and enthusiastic people – they will keep you moving and young at heart”, I love this piece of advice and it’s very true. Especially in this industry you need to surround yourself with people who keep you vibrant, learning, and full of energy as it can be quite a demanding role.
I travel regularly to conduct international training and to study worldwide trends, and I gain a lot of inspiration through this, I am very fortunate to be able to visit other countries and see firsthand not just how the beauty industry works differently, these trips are always revelations for me.
Tell us about a big achievement that stands out for you, be it personal or career focused.
It is no secret that my favourite wax is Brilliance! Brilliance Hard Wax is one of my greatest achievements. Brilliance took my business to a new level. Developing my unique signature waxing movements ‘The Butterfly’ and ‘The Secret Garden’ have helped so many therapists. My techniques, combined with Brilliance Hard Wax, provide exceptional results for both the therapist and the client. Every week I get emails from therapists telling me just how much they love this product and how they, as well as their clients, can feel the difference.
What would you like to share with our beauty industry that may inspire or empower?
Our industry is full of so many talented professional women, I encourage them all to live with passion, to follow their dreams and understand it takes hard work and dedication to achieve greatness, but you can do it. Listen and learn, make learning and growing part of your everyday business!
