What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
International Women’s Day holds great significance for me. It’s a day to acknowledge and value the contributions of women across different periods of history and in various domains of life. It’s also a time for reflection on the strides made towards achieving gender equality and the continued efforts required to address existing challenges.
What or whom has been your inspiration for achieving the career you dreamed of?
As the founder of a fake tan brand my inspiration for achieving the career I dreamed of comes from several sources. Firstly, I’m motivated by the desire to provide high-quality products that empower individuals to feel confident and glowing in their own skin.
Additionally, I’m inspired by pioneers in the beauty industry who have successfully built brands that resonate with consumers and make a positive impact. Moreover, I’m driven by the opportunity to innovate and create innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of customers. Ultimately, my passion for entrepreneurship and dedication to making a difference in the beauty industry fuel my pursuit of realising my career goals.
What challenges do you feel women in our industry face and how could we look to push through such challenges?
Unconscious gender bias, These are unintentional and automatic mental associations based on gender, that stem from traditions, what was one the norm, values, culture and/or experience.
I believe we can push through this by awareness training and encourage individuals to challenge stereotypes and assumptions, both in their own thinking and in the workplace culture.
What is the best advice you received throughout your career that you can share with our readers?
If you never ask you will never get! Never be shy to ask for anything.
Tell us about a big achievement that stands out for you, be it personal or career focused.
Teaching myself to get comfortable being uncomfortable has been my greatest achievement. Now, I no longer hold back on pursuing all the things I want out of life. Embracing discomfort has unlocked a world of possibilities for me, allowing me to step boldly into new experiences, face challenges head-on, and pursue my dreams with unwavering determination. It’s been a transformative journey that has empowered me to embrace change, take risks, and ultimately live life to the fullest.
What would you like to share with our beauty industry that may inspire or empower?
Being true to yourself is incredibly important, especially in a world where trends and external appearances often take centre stage. While it’s great to appreciate external beauty, what truly makes someone beautiful is their inner qualities, their kindness, compassion, integrity, and strength of character.
